The "XIII Spring Music Festival" was held in our Democracy on the following days: Sunday, May 7, at 12 noon, with the "Eis Aiona Choir" from Las Palmas. Thursday the 11th, at 9 p.m., with the Extracurricular Choirs of the Cabildo, the El Cribo Choir, the Yaiza Municipal Choir and the Tinajo Municipal Choir. And on Saturday the 13th at 9 p.m., with the Villa de Teguise Polyphonic Choir, the Marina de Puerto del Carmen Choir, the Vulcania de Arrecife Choir and the San Bartolomé Municipal Choir. Extraordinary success of the 8 Groups present at such a remarkable festival. The harmonious singing of the performing choirs was rewarded by the thunderous applause of the satisfied listeners who, pleasantly surprised by the vocal quality of the performers, daily filled the main hall of the Society of Culture and Recreation, our beloved and respected "Democracy", the "holy house" as the prestigious Lanzarote writer Agustín de la Hoz aptly called it, an expression that his friend, our family member and remembered teacher "Braulio de León Navarro", the brilliant island musicologist, Agustín's companion, always chanted, who, in the speech he gave him when the Tribute that we offered Braulio in life, held at the Museum of Contemporary Art Castillo de San José, expressed to him (referring Agustín to the magnificent musical vocal trajectory of the artist Braulio that he always selflessly offered to Lanzarote): ..."you friend Braulio, you did know how to choose the path of your life! with the fruitful musical work done and intelligently dedicated to the spiritual enjoyment of your countrymen"....
The first concert of the "Spring Music Encounter" (named so until 2005) and since 2006 "Spring Music Festival", was held on June 30, 1985, sponsored by Democracy and organized between both entities, and for this reason, Braulio, directed on July 1, 1985, a heartfelt and affectionate Greeting to the President of Democracy, communicating... "the greatest satisfaction and pride of the San Ginés Choir in giving our first official concert at the Headquarters of the Holy House". Regarding the unexpected absence of the Concerts in 2005 and 2006 of the outstanding "San Gines Polyphonic Choir of Arrecife", founded in 1973 by Braulio, express my concern for the heartfelt absence of the Choir's musical successes from the stage. Is it possible to smooth out the discrepancies that have arisen? perhaps due to some subjective slip and the virtual confusion is rectified, returning, please, to past times in honor of the founder Braulio, whose respectable memory deserves it. The admirers of the famous Choir, for sure, will applaud the return.
Highlight the success of the Board of Directors of the Democracy Society, which by absolute acclamation, adopted the sensitive Agreement to baptize the great annual event with the name: "Braulio de León Spring Music Festival". Congratulations on the success, Directors, because actions like this, once again, recall the heartfelt presence... of the prestigious founders of our distinguished Democracy Society, harmonizing with them, that what is really important in life... are "human values".
