The neighborhood associations Montaña Roja and La Bocaina of Playa Blanca, as well as the neighborhood associations El Clico of El Golfo, Los Majos of La Degollada and the Sociocultural Association Nueva Andalucía ask those responsible for Health for the "immediate" assignment of a permanent pediatrician for the Playa Blanca health center. If this is not possible, they request the hiring of a specialist in pediatrics to meet the needs of the citizens of the south of the island.
According to these neighborhood groups, the island director of Health, Juan Manuel Sosa, "promised in Playa Blanca, more than a month ago, to return to the municipality with a solution in hand", so they hope that he "moves from words to deeds". These residents also do not forget "the old institutional promise to carry out the cytology test in the renovated health center, which the women of Yaiza continue to demand".
On the other hand, the citizen platform recalls that they were the ones who mobilized "to unblock the construction project of the new health center, stopped for ten years by the bureaucratic maze", and therefore reject "any political use of this achievement".
"Any party or candidate that wants to profit from the implementation of the 24-hour service is exposed before the Lanzarote society, because it is no secret to anyone, and the newspaper archives of the media record it, that it was the residents who, with their determination, forced the improvement of healthcare", they conclude.
