Yaiza requests from the Cabildo an updated legal report on the plot to be auctioned in Playa Quemada

The City Council defends the rustic nature of the 41.7-hectare plot and requests all documentation on the Partial Plan and the developing company before Justice sets the auction date.

The Yaiza City Council sent this Wednesday two letters to the president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, and to the Minister of Territorial Policy, Jesús Machín, requesting documentation referring to the plot of 41.7 hectares of surface located in Playa Quemada that will go up for auction on a date to be determined by the Justice.

The Institution requests an updated legal report on the urbanistic status of the so-called Playa Quemada Partial Plan and all documentation held by the island council regarding the land and the developing company Prosolmar S.A., specifically, reports and requirements, as well as the different administrative actions.

In any case, the Yaiza City Council defends the rustic nature of the land and does not contemplate its reclassification to developable land under any circumstances. It should be recalled that the plot was projected in the nineties as land for tourist development with 300 beds and a golf course, among other facilities, but as it was not executed, it recovered its condition as rustic land, although the developing company litigates to validate the utility it projected then, in the scenario of the annulment of the Supplementary General Land Management Plan of Yaiza of 2014.

“The coastal towns of Playa Quemada and El Golfo are not recognized by Costas as urban centers and were not included in the General Supplementary Planning Plan of 2014, drafted by the Government of the Canary Islands at the request of the City Council, affected by the current 100-meter maritime-public domain boundary. On the other hand, I hope that no public administration considers the tourist use of the plot in question in the Insular Territorial Planning Plan, which is in the process of being updated,” concludes the mayor of Yaiza, who also clarifies that “Yaiza is currently advancing the drafting of its General Urban Planning Plan, not a supplementary one, as mistakenly stated by politicians who claim to be informed.”
