The Yaiza City Council has begun work this Thursday to replace the deteriorated streetlights on the central Limones street, in Playa Blanca, with new LED technology luminaires. Financed entirely with municipal funds, it represents an investment of approximately 27,000 euros and will allow for the renewal of about 45 units, improving lighting, safety, and energy efficiency in the main commercial area of the tourist town.
The intervention, which addresses a demand from local businesses, is being carried out by workers from the company awarded the public lighting maintenance service and will continue over the next few days.
With this new action, which is added to those recently carried out in the Castillo del Águila and San Marcial del Rubicón partial plans, those planned in the comprehensive rehabilitation project of Avenida Papagayo, the first phase of which is underway, and others pending, the southern council continues to advance in its program for improving the public lighting network and energy saving, while also improving the quality of lighting in areas with a large influx of residents and visitors.
The mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda, highlights that “in addition to modernizing municipal infrastructure and improving energy efficiency, this intervention contributes to reinforcing public safety, providing greater visibility for both users and establishments, and offering a better image of our main tourist hub”.
For his part, the Councilor for Public Works, Ángel Lago, apologizes for any inconvenience that the replacement work may cause and takes the opportunity to request the cooperation of the sector during the development of the work. “We ask businesses to exercise extreme caution with the mobile displays they place near their establishments over the next few days and to provide sufficient space for workers to access the work points more comfortably, which will allow the action to be carried out more quickly and effectively,” explains Ángel Lago.
