The Yaiza City Council plans to approve its budget in the first week of January 2024, according to the mayor Óscar Noda and head of the Economy and Finance Area. The latest management audit carried out by the Government of the Canary Islands on the City Council's accounts, referring to the 2022 financial year, confirms compliance with all the economic and financial sanitation indicators of this institution. "We have a budget forecast of 28 million euros for the next fiscal year”, he pointed out.
The mayor maintains that “the numbers speak of the responsible management of the accounts, we continue with zero debt, we increase the treasury surplus to invest more and we improve our savings forecasts. The budget is the basis of the Administration's operation, we are the most investing town hall in Lanzarote and we intend to continue attending to citizen demands with room for improvement, because our neighbors comply with their obligations”.
The audit establishes a positive treasury surplus of "52.1 million euros", an indicator that defines the Administration's real capacity to face its financial structure with its own resources. On the other hand, "the long-term debt remains at zero, there are no debts with banks having the capacity to carry out credit operations".
"Yaiza has also improved the forecasts for generating planned savings. Gross savings and net savings stood at 9.5 million euros, compared to estimates of 1.1 million euros, thus exceeding the forecasts by 8.4 million euros", in both cases, the mayor revealed.
Another key indicator is the collection management, which in Yaiza reached "86.2%, the limit for 2022 being 75%" of the net rights recognized. The Government of the Canary Islands consequently certifies that the town hall will receive one hundred percent of the 'Canary Municipal Financing Fund'.
