The Yaiza City Council is carrying out maintenance work these days in the municipality's educational centers and conditioning public buildings for the 2019-2020 school year that will begin next September.
The institution reminds the new political leadership of the Ministry of Education of the Government of the Canary Islands of the commitments in terms of infrastructure acquired with the southern educational community, such as the construction of two classrooms in the CEIP Yaiza, which has been forced to house students in barracks, as is also the case in the CEIP Playa Blanca or the IES Yaiza.
Regarding the work being carried out, the City Council points out that it is changing the floor of the school dining room of the CEIP Yaiza and updating the premises to current regulations, in addition to advancing masonry, plumbing, painting, electrical inspections and replacement of deteriorated material according to the needs of the different centers.
The City Council also recalls that last February it demanded in situ from the Government of the Canary Islands the total replacement of the carpentry of the CEIP Yaiza and the need to cover the sports court of this same center. Likewise, it continues to demand "speed" in the execution of the works of the secondary school of Playa Blanca for which the municipality ceded 12,000 square meters of public land in the back of the CEIP Playa Blanca.
