Yaiza and the Consortium reinforce the security measures for Christmas and Epiphany

The municipality of Yaiza will have more technical and human resources during the Christmas and Epiphany season to attend to possible emergencies and respond more quickly to citizen calls thanks to the agreement reached between the City Council chaired by Gladys Acuña and the Security and Emergency Consortium of Lanzarote, which involves the installation of a permanent fire brigade in the south of the Island between December 23 and January 9.

The unit consists of three firefighters on duty 24 hours a day, plus a Bup truck (heavy urban pump), a 4x4 vehicle and a rescue jet ski. The resources, which join the Civil Protection Yaiza allocation, will be based in the town of Yaiza and the tourist center of Playa Blanca.

The Councilor for Citizen Security of Yaiza, Javier Camacho, held a meeting this Wednesday at the Civil Protection headquarters with the manager of the Consortium, Enrique Espinosa, the head of the Fire Department, Domingo Crespo, and the Civil Protection coordinator of Yaiza, Juan Gabino Cáceres, to finalize details of the reinforcement of the security device.

The participants agreed to the implementation of new detachments in Easter and summer, times of maximum tourist occupancy and greater concentration of people, while the auxiliary fire station in the south of the Island remains permanently operational in a building ceded by the City Council to the Consortium in the town of Uga. Javier Camacho appreciates the commitment of the Consortium and the firefighters and their total willingness to support the security work in the municipality of Yaiza.
