The Yaiza City Council has also been forced to raise the red flag on the beaches of Caleta del Congrio and Puerto Muelas, in Papagayo, due to the presence of jellyfish. Thus, swimming is prohibited in these sandy areas.
This measure is in addition to those already adopted by Teguise and Tías. Firstly, the La Villa City Council raised the red flags this weekend on all the beaches of Costa Teguise and also in Famara due to the detection of a bank of jellyfish.
In addition, it should be remembered that the plague of jellyfish already forced the prohibition of swimming last weekend in both the entire municipality of Teguise and Haría.
Likewise, Tías has had to adopt this measure on the morning of this Monday, after locating a bank of jellyfish in Playa Chica and Playa Grande, "whose sting can be dangerous for people's health", according to the City Council. In the beaches of Matagorda and Los Pocillos the yellow flag has been raised so that bathers take precautions.
