The San Bartolomé City Council informs that work has begun to secure the structure of the Montaña Mina windmill, which suffered an explosion and caused landslides on June 7. In this way, the parts of the damaged wind turbine that are at risk of falling will be secured and dismantled, and the condition of the remaining windmills in the area will be certified.
The rapid intervention is a consequence of the requests that the San Bartolomé City Council has been making to the Government of the Canary Islands, who were required to act urgently to guarantee the safety of the residents of the municipality.
The mayor of San Bartolomé, Isidro Pérez, highlighted the importance of this action in the Montaña Mina environment so that no one in the municipality feels unsafe about the possibility of a repeat of a scene like the one on June 7. The mayor assured that "from the City Council we will continue working to ensure that the actions in the environment are carried out as quickly as possible."
Pérez also announced that the Consistory has maintained contacts, for the third time, with the Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce of the Government of the Canary Islands "so that the total dismantling of the structure of the damaged mill is carried out and, if necessary, of the rest of the mills that may generate any risk situation."
The work to secure the structure of the damaged mill and the review of the rest that are in the wind farm will be paid for by the company that owns the wind turbines and the Government of the Canary Islands, whose tasks are being carried out by a specialized company.
