"What hurts Brufau is that the Canary Islands gave Repsol a lesson in dignity"

Somos Lanzarote responds that "development is not allowing an oil multinational to plunder us" and highlights the importance of the mobilization that was carried out against the explorations

"What hurts Brufau is that the Canary Islands gave Repsol a lesson in dignity

"What hurts Brufau is that the Canary Islands gave Repsol a lesson in dignity.". This is how Somos Lanzarote has responded to the statements made by Brufau, regarding what happened with the opposition to the explorations in the Canary Islands, assuring that "it was a pity, third-world". Brufau has also stated that the process was "a serious pain in the ass".

For Somos Lanzarote, what the Canarian people, as well as the majority of their representatives, institutions and social agents, starred in was "a lesson in dignity and struggle against the pretensions of a multinational", despite "the many levers of power that it demonstrated to control", in reference to "the Government of the Popular Party, and more specifically to the former minister and recognized fraudster, José Manuel Soria".

In the opinion of the political organization, the fact that the conflict over the explorations in the waters of the islands became "a pain in the ass" for the leaders of Repsol and Soria is a "further reason for Canarians to feel proud of the social movement generated in the islands", by managing to damage through social mobilization, "speculative interests built at the expense of the environment and the well-being of the population of this Archipelago".

"A sign that we are moving towards an advanced society"

The transforming organization considers that "rejecting that a multinational plunders the possible resources of a territory, in exchange for false promises and crumbs", is "exactly the opposite of third-worldism; it is a sign that we are moving towards an advanced society, aware and committed to its future".

From Somos Lanzarote they regret the "arrogance and resentment" with which the president of this oil company refers to a society like the Canarian one, "demonstrating once again the enormous lie on which the exploration project in the Canary Islands was based, sponsored by the Government of Spain of the Popular Party and the ill-fated José Manuel Soria".
