Vox Lanzarote has denounced "pressure" on the Intervention department of the Arrecife City Council by the mayor and her government group, whom they accuse of "bad practices". In this regard, the formation has released a letter from the municipal comptroller, in which she states that statements have been made against her that are "lacking in rigor" and with "bad faith", which attack her "honor, professionalism and ethics".
In said letter, the interim comptroller of the City Council states that, on April 26, she received a call from the mayor of Arrecife, Ástrid Pérez, in which she was accused of having committed "serious negligence, consisting of concealing a report of objection" in two files of extrajudicial recognition of credit from the Department of Social Services related to two contracts.
During that conversation, "that negligence is also transferred, by the Mayoress, to another worker in the Intervention department", assures the municipal comptroller, who points out that, during the same, there were "moments of great tension on both sides".
After that, the comptroller explains that she was on vacation from May 3 to 18 and that on the 20th she was called to a meeting with the Finance Councilor and the accidental secretary. "During the course of the same, it is indicated, among other things, that an audit of the Gestiona application has been carried out and, according to said audit, the concealment of the Intervention objection reports is verified", points out the comptroller, who states that this accusation "is made verbally", without being shown "any document that proves the facts".
In addition, she states that she delivered "the report from the Social Services technician that is in the file, where it is clearly indicated that the area is aware of said objections before preparing the recognition files".
Therefore, she points out that "it makes no sense to continue with that supposed concealment of objection reports" on her part. In addition, she states that it should be taken into account that "these are files that have been dictated by an informative commission and that if there were any unintentional error", which she assures "has not been the case", it "could be corrected since no executive agreement has been adopted".
"From the result of said meeting and, as would have been expected, it was not concluded in a clear, forceful and transparent manner that the statements made against my person were lacking in rigor, and evidencing a clear sign of bad faith", adds the municipal comptroller, who considers that her "honor, professionalism and ethics" have been attacked.
Request for certificates
Therefore, she has requested the accidental secretary to issue up to eight certificates, to accredit that the Intervention objection reports existed in the two files and that the technicians from the Social Services area were aware of them.
One of the files is related to the "Food Assistance Service or Social Dining Room and Assistance for Social Support Deficit", provided by Emerlan, for which she points out that invoices were generated "objected to in the Intervention report" dated March 3, for a value of 84,806 euros. The other, as shown in her letter, refers to the "Surveillance, Security and Protection Service of Goods and People in the Social Services Centers of the City Council".
Some "repetitive actions" that can end "in cases of corruption"
"The lack of foresight in the different areas leads to irregularities in contracting, skipping regulations and pressuring the supervisory body so that it does not carry out its function of controlling the City Council itself", Vox has pointed out for its part, which is who has made these facts public.
The formation affirms that "these actions are repetitive" and warns that "by not carrying out strict control at the appropriate time, they can end in cases of corruption, contracting at high costs or awarding to clientelist networks". "Unfortunately, on our island, it would not be the first time it has happened, she adds.
"All this excess of public spending is paid by the taxpayer and clearly explains the current situation of the City Council's high Budget", they conclude from Vox.
