The Municipal Government of Arrecife, led by mayor Yonathan de León, has put out to tender one of the largest public bids in this term, intended to be a boost in the management, maintenance, and revitalization of municipal sports facilities in the neighborhoods. With this tender, already published on the Public Sector Contracting Platform, the aim is to make a significant change to the service provided to the city's clubs and athletes in these facilities, to which will be added the new network that the City Council currently has under construction or planned in the neighborhoods of Maneje, Altavista, San Francisco Javier, and Tinasoria.
Through the Department of Sports, led by the PP spokesperson, Eli Merino, these services have been put out to tender for 6,177,518.61 euros (including taxes) for a period of four years. This tender, bid in two lots, aims to cover the operational and maintenance needs of the current sports facilities managed directly by the City Council, to which the new courts that are under construction, or projected, will be incorporated.
One of the two lots, to which interested firms that meet the technical requirements can apply, is focused on the provision of specialized sports monitor services to relaunch these centers and for them to be epicenters of healthy living, through sport, in the neighborhoods.
Yonathan de León, who is also the head of the Budget Management Unit of the Arrecife City Council, has recalled that this Monday the Corporation's plenary session approved the municipal budgets for this 2026, with nearly 80 million euros, the largest amount in the city's history.
Budgets that allocate significant items for the strengthening of public services and the maintenance of facilities and public spaces in the city, such as these significant amounts in terms of sports endowments, which reflect the commitment to improve attention, and constantly carry out maintenance work on the facilities. In addition, as reported this Monday, the City Council will allocate more than 46 million euros to public investments through the treasury surplus, which will be incorporated into its binding items.
Sports works in execution
As specified in the report attached to the tender, the firm or firms (there are two lots) that are awarded will provide services, in addition to the current municipal facilities, in the new ones of the San Francisco Javier Recreational Sports Park (with an investment of almost one million euros for its construction), two courts in Altavista, plus the court in the Maneje neighborhood, and the one completed last year in Los Leones Park, in Titerroy.
Five million in improvements to the facilities
Councilor Eli Merino, jointly with Mayor Yonathan de León, have been planning this important public tender that will allow for guaranteed public services in the maintenance and operational functioning of the municipal sports facilities, among which are included the football fields, the San Francisco Javier sports center (which will take a great leap with its remodeling with more than 3 million euros of investment), the renovated sports facilities of Las Salinas, or the Titerroy pavilions and the IES Las Salinas (after an agreement with Education for its sports use).
During this term, different modernization works of the sports facilities in the municipality of Arrecife have been launched by the Sports and Public Works Areas, with an investment exceeding 5 million euros.
The tenders for these two lots guarantee the concierge, reception and administration services, maintenance and cleaning, material and equipment assembly and disassembly services for sports events, the technical maintenance service and the technical management service, plus the sports instructors service, one of the axes that will be greatly promoted in the neighborhoods to encourage the practice of sports to lead a healthy life in the population.
Companies interested in participating in this tender have until next April 20, 2026 to submit their economic and technical offers. The City Council allocates, from its municipal budgets, an amount close to 1.3 million euros per year for these public services.
