The Cabildo of Lanzarote approved this Monday in the Governing Council the travel grants for athletes and teams, as well as aid to high competition athletes of the 2022/2023 season.
"The clubs and athletes of the island who compete in the rest of the archipelago or even in the peninsula have to bear a high economic expense, so it is our obligation to help them so that, in this way, they can continue competing and taking the name of Lanzarote throughout the national territory," said the president, Oswaldo Betancort.
The Island Corporation allocates an amount of 525,000 euros to subsidize the travel of athletes and teams competing in the autonomous, national and international fields; while a total of 50,000 euros will be awarded to aid high-performance athletes.
The Minister of Sports, Juan Monzón, positively values this news. "It is vital that we collaborate directly with the athletes of the island, who will always have the island institution on their side to cover the expenses of each season," he said.
The Cabildo of Lanzarote is already working hard to process the aid for the current season, 2023/2024, thus speeding up the payment of the amounts to the clubs as much as possible.
