The vice president and head of Public Works of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Jacobo Medina, visited the beginning of the transformation works of Avenida Canarias, in the southern town of Playa Blanca.
“We were aware of undertaking works on this important road, traveled by thousands of vehicles that enter and leave the port of Playa Blanca every day, which connects with the island of Fuerteventura,” said the vice president, who learned firsthand the progress in the initial works.
In addition to the repair of the road surface, the vice president explains that action will be taken “in the islets of the intersection with Archipiélago, Canarias and Avenida Faro Pechiguera Avenues and along the edges of the sidewalks repairing the curbs in poor condition, as will be done on the sidewalk adjacent to the Atlantic Park as they are greatly deteriorated.”
For this intervention, the Public Works area allocates a total amount of 1,156,091.25 euros, financed by 80% through the Canary Islands Development Fund (FDCAN). The company in charge of carrying out the work will be Lanzagrava S.L, who will have 6 months to execute it from the beginning of the works. This work is part of the program 'Improvement of roads of island and regional interest'.
“However, everything indicates that the work could be completed even sooner than expected,” said the vice president, who apologizes to the citizens for the inconvenience caused and requests that the provisional signage be respected.
