The Maintenance team of the Art, Culture and Tourism Centers is currently undertaking the restoration of the access bridge to the Islote de Fermina, which is permanently subjected to inclement weather, the daily temperature range and, above all, the effects of its proximity to the sea.

"It is a conservation initiative that improves the aesthetics of the infrastructure and, at the same time, the feeling of security for the people who cross the bridge every day to enjoy one of the most pleasant places in the Marina de Arrecife," says the Entity's advisor, Ángel Vázquez, who, once again, appreciates "the care, meticulousness, and extraordinary sensitivity with which the Entity's professionals work every day."

Now that the work on the two handrails is finished, the footbridge is being dismantled in sections these days to tackle the restoration of the floor slats. Each one is repaired, subjected to a sanding process, and treated with teak oil in order to guarantee maximum durability. The most deteriorated ones are discarded and replaced with new ones.

Once the process is complete, the planks will be returned to their location on the emblematic bridge, which in a few weeks will once again shine and offer a renewed image of the Islote de Fermina.
