Professional farmers and ranchers will have priority and pay 20 euros for transportation, while progress is made on the construction of reservoirs to improve supply in the area.

Meeting of the Cabildo and the City Council of Tinajo with the farmers and ranchers of the municipality

The La Vegueta Sociocultural Center was the setting last week for an informative meeting of the Tinajo City Council and the Island Council of Lanzarote with the primary sector of the area to report on the emergency measures adopted by both institutions to provide water in view of the current shortcomings in the supply.

The mayor of Tinajo, Jesús Machín, accompanied by the councilor of the area Luis Miguel Pérez Berriel, together with the councilor of the Cabildo, Domingo Cejas, and the cabildicia advisor, Gladys Acuña, explained to the representatives of the primary sector of the area the details of the initiative.

Professional farmers and ranchers will have priority over non-professionals when requesting the water supply. They must submit the application in the registry of the town hall or by email (sectorprimario@tinajo.es) indicating the applicant's data. The established schedule is Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 16:00 hours (possible extensions of the schedule will be studied later).

For professional farmers and ranchers it will have a cost of 20 euros, while non-professionals must pay the cost of transport.

The mayor of Tinajo, Jesús Machín, thanked the representatives of the Cabildo, Domingo Cejas and Gladys Acuña, for their presence and explanations, and reminded those present of the procedure: “water is free for everyone. Professional farmers will have to pay twenty euros for the transport of each tank. Non-professionals have to pay the transport that they agree with the carriers. They can contact Alberto López Peláez (625 56 88 92) who will prepare the documentation for them. The request has to reach Club La Santa so that when the tank arrives everything is prepared. There are about three hundred tons of water destined for the primary sector of Tinajo”.

Machín also recalled the work planned for this year, “my illusion and desire is to solve this. I have the hope that when the Tinache tanks are put into operation, there we have a capacity of a thousand and pico cubic meters of water, when we fill those tanks, we will greatly improve the situation of Tinajo”, concluded the mayor of Tinajo, Jesús Machín.
