The plenary session of the Tías Town Hall approved the general budgets for 2023 this Tuesday. According to a statement issued by the Council, the total figure amounts to 27,754,589.32 euros, 8.44% more than in the previous year.

The aforementioned budget includes "major projects", maintains services, "consolidates" financial stability and increases the items related to Social Services and the Environment, indicates the Tías Town Hall.

The mayor José Juan Cruz Saavedra explained during the plenary session that this figure was defined "with accounting prudence and by the criterion of the registers and fees collected, so it is a realistic budget based on rigor and efficiency in public spending, in addition to its marked social character".

Cruz Saavedra added that the excellent financial health of the municipal coffers, with treasury surpluses and subsidies from other administrations, allows us to foresee a notable increase in this budget and place it at more than 35 million euros. He recalled that the Tías Town Hall is not among the administrations with the highest collection requirements.

The Councilor for Finance, Tomás Silvera, detailed the most relevant aspects of the budget in the plenary session and stated that "these are expansive and economic growth budgets."

It is a key document to continue with the progress of the municipality, based on the foundations laid since 2019 with our economic and social policy, and which in the current economic situation must be directed to the promotion of quality employment, the growth and renovation of the tourism and commercial industry, as well as social action policies," he said.

Silvera pointed out chapter IV of the budget, on current transfers, to which €2,489,936.91 has been allocated, "in clear accordance with the commitment to the welfare state and a more social municipality." There is a significant increase in the items allocated to the environment, animal welfare, disability and accessibility, minors, LGTBI groups, commerce, culture, social action, physical and mental health, the elderly, and support for sports, clubs and sports schools.

The plenary session highlighted the Conecta Tías community strategy project, employment plans, investment in public works and sustainability, modernization and tourism revitalization plans in Puerto del Carmen, in addition to the environmental projects and actions of the Action Plan of the municipality of Tías to comply with the Sustainable Development Goals.
