The Tías City Council has processed the termination of the administrative contract for the concession of the market that was held every Friday in the Plaza del Varadero in Puerto del Carmen due to the concession holder's failure to pay the fee. Thus, the celebration of the market has been canceled "temporarily."
According to the City Council, the contract formalized in 2012 established a clause that included an annual fee of 81,000 euros, taxes included. However, it states that the concessionaire entity, Deccoeventos y Restauración, maintains a debt with the City Council, in respect of the fee and as of September 2020, amounting to 442,590.15 euros, so it would have been years without paying that fee.
In this regard, the City Council points out that, in accordance with article 100 of the Law on Heritage of Public Administrations, concessions will be extinguished for non-payment of the fee by the concession holder.
"Given the accumulated amount of the debt and, taking into account the judgments won in relation to the amounts demanded and the damage caused to the administration," the City Council announces that it has proceeded to extinguish and resolve the concession in accordance with article 100 of the Heritage Law. "All this without prejudice to the amounts corresponding to the declaration of the State of Alarm being prorated," he specifies.
