The Tías City Council has installed speed bumps to reduce the speed of vehicles circulating on different streets of the municipality, such as La Luchada street, Tías, César Manrique and Alemania streets, Puerto del Carmen, and Los Llanitos road, Mácher.
In addition, the resurfacing and signage of the parking lot of the Achimencey sociocultural center, La Asomada, has been completed.
After the corresponding public tender for the execution of the works, the council has invested, with its own funds, a total of 37,757.63 euros in the creation of the aforementioned raised crosswalks and a total of 32,013.50 euros in the repaving of the road network in the town of La Asomada.
The creation of the raised crosswalks is justified after verifying “the serious risk suffered by pedestrians due to the lack of crosswalks and the high speed at which some roads are traveled,” the needs report states. The raised crosswalks force drivers to reduce acceleration and drive at a more moderate speed.
On the other hand, in La Asomada, work was carried out both in the parking lots attached to the town's sociocultural center and on the Barranco por la Vegueta road, which presented serious deterioration of the pavement for the use of vehicles and lacked horizontal and vertical signage.
In the case of the parking lot located next to the Achimencey sociocultural center, the entire surface was repaved and horizontal and vertical signage was carried out for vehicles and pedestrians, including a peripheral passage for pedestrians and a crosswalk at the entrance.
In the case of the road, action was taken at three points where road failures caused runoff to affect homes located on the margins.
