The Tías City Council presented this week the program of the festivities in honor of Our Lady of Carmen, which is celebrated in Puerto del Carmen from July 29 to August 11, with the novel incorporation of the so-called "Violet Point", a space to raise awareness, prevent and enjoy the festivities under the premise of maximum respect for women.
The mayor of Tías, José Juan Cruz, highlighted the importance of the service to prevent any sexist attitude in all social areas, but emphasized the spaces with large crowds of people, such as the festivals scheduled for August 2, 3, 9 and 10. "It will be those days, at night, from 9 pm to 1 am, when the Violet Point will be in operation in the Plaza de Varadero," he explained.
"In reality, we are facing a mirror in which all citizens look at ourselves. NOur objective is to raise awareness and inform about the need to become aware of many sexist attitudes that we sometimes overlook and that we have to eradicate," added the Councilor for Social Services, Nicolás Saavedra.
The presentation of the program of the Puerto del Carmen festivities, which took place on Tuesday afternoon, was presided over by the mayor, the first deputy mayor, Mame Fernández, the second deputy mayor, Nicolás Saavedra, and the Councilor for Festivities, Sergio García.
