Tías has 72 restraining orders for gender violence in the municipality

Only in the municipality of Tías there are 72 restraining orders for domestic violence, of which 50 are monitored by the Civil Guard, according to reports from the City Council. The remaining 22 are cases of gender violence committed in the municipality by men who currently reside abroad.

Given these data, the Local Security Board of the Tías City Council, made up of representatives of the Insular Directorate of the General State Administration, Civil Guard, Judicial Police, Local Police, Women's Section of the Cabildo de Lanzarote and municipal Social Services, agreed this Monday to hold a monthly meeting to address cases of gender and domestic violence in the municipality in a coordinated manner.

At the meeting, held in the meeting room of the Town Hall, the importance of the exchange of information between the organizations and institutions involved was highlighted in order to effectively monitor the situation of the victims.

The head of the Unit Against Violence against Women of the Insular Directorate of the General State Administration, Diana Guadix, expressed her satisfaction "for attending this first coordination table held in Tías since August 2010", when it was also agreed to convene a monthly meeting by the City Council to monitor these cases of violence, without said agreement being carried out until this Monday.

In this sense, the mayor of Tías, José Francisco Hernández, expressed "the willingness on the part of the current government group of the City Council" to collaborate with all the institutions and departments present at the table and praised "the existing coordination between the Civil Guard and the Local Police of Tías when addressing the aforementioned cases of gender violence registered in the municipality".
