The plenary session of the Tías City Council approved this Tuesday definitively, with the vote of the Government Group, the general budgets of the municipality for the year 2022, which amount to a total of 33,550,735 euros, including the specific modifications made to date.
The mayor, José Juan Cruz, explained in an ordinary plenary session that the effective measures “of responsibility, caution and fiscal prudence” have made it possible to increase the budget initially approved in February, from 25,411,848 euros, to a total of 33,550,735 euros. In addition, he explained that 6,007,876 euros correspond to “income from earmarked financing of subsidies granted by other administrations at the end of last year”.
In addition, with the closing of the 2021 budget and the relevant budget modifications, the City Council maintains that it currently has “a treasury surplus of 9 million euros”.
“Our accounts are healthy, we managed to make the City Council have zero debt since the end of 2019 and today we have a perfectly structured budget that exceeds 33 million euros thanks to effective measures and with the commitment to the residents not to increase taxes”, said the mayor.
The municipal spokesperson and Councilor for Finance, Tomás Silvera, indicated that the preparation of the budget for this year and the forecast of income have been “successful”. “We have the confirmation of a considerable increase in social spending, whose item has increased by 30% since the beginning of this legislature, without neglecting the items for Tourism, the economic engine of our municipality, commercial revitalization, the promotion of employment or animal welfare, among others”, adds the councilor.
More than 107,000 euros for the municipal swimming pool
The plenary session unanimously approved a budget modification that allows allocating 107,765 euros to “the management of the municipal swimming pool”, which initiates the contracting procedure for the services.
As Tomás Silvera pointed out, the Tías City Council has received a total of 107,765 from the Government of Spain for current expenses, which allows allocating this item to the management of the municipal swimming pool. “We are sure that this is the opportune moment for several companies to present themselves and their proposals are submitted to the contracting table”, said the councilor.
“Taking into account the economic services of the house, we decided to wait for this amount to be deposited in the municipal coffers to take out this budget modification. The management of the swimming pool will go ahead and the fees will not increase. We know that it is a necessary service, which was made with public money and that will continue to be supported by this City Council”, added Tomás Silvera.
From the Consistory they point out that it must be taken into account that the facilities of the Tías municipal swimming pool have been operating since 2021 for the exclusive use of the student-workers of the Training Program in Alternation with Employment (PFAE) Safe Beaches I and II.
