The Tías City Council will convert Casa Tegoyo into a hostel

Tías reached the first political agreements of the season in the plenary session held this Tuesday. It was not a session with outstanding issues, but several points planned for the day went ahead. Among them, the approval of the project to convert Casa Tegoyo into a hostel or the re-election of Manuel Reyes as Justice of the Peace.

The project for the "Conditioning of the Tegoyo Hostel" will have an item of 134,000 euros that will be used to complete the furniture in order to give it use as a hostel. Casa Tegoy had been rehabilitated by the City Council with the launch of different workshop schools. This decision also implies the requirement demanded by the Association for Rural Development of Lanzarote (Aderlan) to release a subsidy that will be used to equip the House.

Manuel Reyes will continue to be Justice of the Peace of the municipality of Teguise, after his renewal was agreed this Tuesday. This decision makes him the Justice of the Peace who has been in this position for the longest time, since he took office in 1981. It was also agreed that Luis Víctor Parrilla Medina would be the substitute judge.

More points of the day

Another of the agreements was the signing of a collaboration agreement with the General Directorate of Traffic through which the body will provide a telematics connection that allows the Corporation to access data from vehicles and their owners. The agreement will be valid for one year and may be extended automatically. In this way, the Local Police will be able to know data of drivers and vehicles at any time.

In addition, September 8 will be Cooperator Day. This was approved by the Corporation this Tuesday following the line marked by the Council of Ministers that already adopted this agreement on April 28, 2006 to highlight the commitment of thousands of people who with cooperation help development.

The decision to twin the municipality of Tías with the town of Adeje in Tenerife and with the Asturian town of Llanes was also put to a vote within the agenda. According to the Corporation, this decision "is good for the municipality to open up to the outside".
