Tías celebrates the 1st Health Promotion Conference

Presentation of the 1st Conference on Health Promotion in Tías

The municipality of Tías will host, from November 11 to 14, the 1st Health Promotion and Prevention Conference "For a healthier life and environment", which will begin at the El Fondeadero civic center, in Puerto del Carmen, and will pass through other areas such as Tías and Mácher, ending on Sunday at the Tegoyo hostel. 

The mayor, José Juan Cruz, and the councilors of Health and Youth, Laura Callero and Christopher Notario, presented the program this Tuesday together with the municipal technician Agustín García and the program coordinator and head of the Adsis foundation, Leticia Curbelo. From the City Council they assure that "more than 25 people belonging to different groups with presence in the municipality" attended. 

"We all bet on health. Individuals, organizations, communities and institutions collaborate to create conditions that guarantee health and well-being for all," said the mayor.  

Laura Callero thanked "clubs and associations for their involvement in this project": "Without you it would not be possible to carry out these conferences." Christopher Notario, for his part, highlighted the importance "of involving young people in health promotion."  

Leticia Curbelo also stressed that "Tías is one of the first municipalities adhering to the Health Promotion and Prevention Strategy, which promotes social welfare." On the other hand, Agustín García highlighted the connection "between health and environment" through a conference with "a community, integral and life cycle approach." 

The City Council informs that all those who want to attend can register by calling 660 92 41 36 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. 

 

Program with talks, workshops and walks 

The City Council of Tías details that the program begins on Thursday, November 11, at 8:30 "with a healthy walk and subsequent talk", until 12:00, at the El Fondeadero civic center. The talk will be about "The secrets of centenarians" and will be given by 'Aruma y Alquimia en tu Plato'.  

The perinatal psychologist Rosa Javier will give a talk "about parenting" that same Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at the Bajamar Senior Center, Puerto del Carmen. On the other hand, for 6:00 p.m. the City Council of Tías has planned, in the same location, "another talk about the beginning of breastfeeding." 

The IES Puerto del Carmen will host on Friday, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., "the health promotion day aimed at young people", with the participation of the groups Aluesa, Médicos del Mundo, Aruma and Gamas. 

That same day in the afternoon, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., the City Council has organized "a friendly match at the Tías football field between Sporting Tías and young people from other entities". In addition, at 5:00 p.m., a "workshop on prevention of techno-addictions" will be given in the assembly hall of the El Fondeadero center.  

Saturday will start at 9:15 a.m., "a bicycle route along the Avenida de las Playas of Puerto del Carmen by the Christian center Luz del Mundo." In addition, at 9:30 a.m., in the socio-cultural center of Mácher, "a talk on self-care will be offered", by the Madara association.  

From the City Council of Tías they also detail that the workshops on Saturday will begin at 11:45 a.m. at the Costamar shopping center, with the 'laughter therapy' workshop by the Aporta group. They will continue in the Plaza del Varadero with a CPR/AED workshop at 4:30 p.m. by Laura Callero and Benjamín Nieves; and another Zumba workshop at 5:30 p.m. by Anmy Rodríguez. 

The last day of the conference will be Sunday, November 14, at 9:30 a.m. at the Tegoyo hostel. There, "an activity of Community Gardens and Alchemy on your plate" will be carried out, followed by the closing of the program and "conclusions by the participating associations."
