Tías approves a budget of 29 million euros for this 2024

More than 15 million euros will be allocated to the execution of different projects, such as improving the energy efficiency of the municipality or the Tourism Sustainability Plan-Lanzarote, among others.

José Juan Cruz Saavedra, Mayor of Tías

The Tías City Council presented this Wednesday at a press conference the general budgets for this 2024, which amount to 29,025,286.19 euros, 4.57% more than in the previous year. They confirmed an expansive and committed forecast with people, the environment, culture and the associative fabric.

The government team of Tías, headed by the mayor, José Juan Cruz, the first deputy mayor, Nicolás Saavedra, and the Councilor for Finance, Tomás Silvera, explained that "these budgets are a reflection of the marked social and ecological character of this government group, formed by the PSOE Socialist Party and Unidas Sí Podemos."

José Juan Cruz reiterated that "we continue to make an important effort in areas such as social services, culture, youth, animal welfare, citizen participation, tourism, commerce and environmental protection, highlighting the increase in income and real investments, which amount to about 16 million euros."

Nicolás Saavedra stressed the government's commitment to people and the relevance of continuity with social and community projects, such as the Conecta Tías strategy, which brings together about thirty groups, or the coordination of projects, such as the Table against Gender Violence, the Educational Training plan for Mothers and Fathers and the Health Promotion Table.

Tomás Silvera highlighted the generation of quality employment as a fundamental pillar for the progress of the social state and well-being. "In 2023 we achieved agreements worth 3,343,755.42 euros, translated into the hiring of 205 unemployed people in the municipality to develop employment plans and PFAE. Therefore, in these budgets we will continue working on other training and employment projects."

Increase in income

The income foreseen in chapter I of the budget, corresponding to direct taxes, amounts to 9,435,005.91 euros. Without a doubt, the good management in the collection area, the agreements signed with the Canary and State Tax Agency, the personalized payment plans introduced with the reform of the general fiscal ordinance, among others, allows an average collection of around 82%, two points above 2023.

Chapter IV of current transfers from other entities foresees an income of 9,819,351.31 euros and includes participation in State taxes and the Canary Municipal Financing Fund. This amount will increase throughout the year according to subsequent income from subsidies, agreements and transfers with other administrations.

Regarding investments, included in chapter VI, it is worth highlighting the forecast of 15,995,914.80 euros for the execution of different projects, such as improving the energy efficiency of the municipality, the Tourism Sustainability Plan-Lanzarote, the energy of the Earth-Casco La Tiñosa, the improvement of playgrounds or the Ecopark project in Los Lirios.
