The mayor of Tías, José Juan Cruz Saavedra, recently met with the managing director of Puertos Canarios, José Gilberto Moreno García, to discuss various issues affecting the improvement of the La Tiñosa dock, such as the modification of the jetty for sailors, the creation of safety handrails and bicycle parking, or the possible construction of new bathrooms.

The meeting was based on the study of various actions aimed at improving the services provided in the port area of Varadero, where the Plaza del Varadero, the stage, the ball court, and the playground are also located. The meeting evaluated the possibility of obtaining the administrative concession for these spaces. The need to incorporate a safety handrail in the most critical areas of the dock, as well as bicycle parking, was also shared.

José Juan Cruz and José Moreno, along with other colleagues from Puertos and the City Council, visited the area and elaborated on the requirement to modify the sailors' jetty, whose project would be financed by Fisheries and Ports, and on the construction of new bathrooms on the dock, "a project that would considerably improve the resources and infrastructure of the area," explained the mayor.

The mayor shared the complaints from users related to the lack of electrical supply in the area, a topic that has generated various concerns among users; and asked about the permits to access the jetty in the case of holding sports events that require its use.
