Carlos Morales is part of the Henning Larsen Architects team and Carlos Morales Arquitecto, formed to design the island's Congress Palace project, according to [the Public Tender->http://www.lavozdelanzarote.com/El-arquitecto-Carlos-Morales-hara] that was decided last week. The conejero architect believes that the Palace "is a highly demanded infrastructure because there is an urgent need to have something of this type for its future development".
Morales, who defines architecture as "a first and immediate response to the client's need and program". In this specific case, he believes that they have given "a coherent response" and that, according to the bases, he believes that this building will be "very versatile and will be able to host six simultaneous events".
In the next 60 days, the negotiation process and the contract will be carried out, and once these procedures are completed, the project will be drafted, for which the architects will have a period of twelve months. The execution of the work will be done during the thirty months following the award of the same.
Regarding these deadlines, Morales states that "I would not have entered this contest if I did not have the faith and hope that this can go ahead. I will try from my position to pressure the politicians to get involved, who are the ones who decide. I believe that this is a necessary project and I believe that society in general has to push for this to go ahead".
With the plans on the table, the conejero says that "now we have to be able to give a response to the functionality and the icon that the building will represent. Just because of its volumetry, it is already a very important building on the island and I hope that we have at least been able to get that right".
