The mayoress of the Yaiza City Council, Gladys Acuña, and the Councilor for Public Works, Juan Lorenzo Tavío, recently held a meeting with the representatives of the fishermen's association of Playa Blanca, in order to inform them of the main aspects of the project of the future maritime port of the southern nucleus.
The mayoress described the meeting as a "resounding success", since in her opinion, "it served to listen to the demands of the sea professionals regarding an infrastructure so necessary for the development of this island. And the truth is that, in addition to collaboration and understanding", as the mayoress pointed out at the end of the meeting, "we have found understanding and the total support of the brotherhood towards this project".
The parties agree
The project includes a berthing line of about 300 linear meters, in addition to a platform of about 60,000 square meters. "This new Port of Playa Blanca will allow the arrival of cruise ships. The goods will continue to arrive in Los Mármoles", highlighted the mayoress of Yaiza, who also highlighted the importance of this new infrastructure "for the development of Lanzarote as a whole".
The expansion of the port area of Playa Blanca will take place to the west of the current dike, and includes the creation of a commercial area of around 10,000 square meters. When the work is finished, there will be 25,930 square meters destined for commercial and passenger traffic, including the two current berthing lines and a possible third in the future, and another 15,990 square meters for accesses, roads and parking lots.
