The Government of the Canary Islands, once the modification of the Órzola dock project was carried out, sent the construction company the budget of 9 million euros to complete the work. The Executive is now awaiting the company's acceptance. If not accepted, the work would go out to tender, presumably next month, in such a way that the work would resume next spring. This was known after the socialist parliamentarian, Andrés Fuentes, asked about the port facility in the north and also in Playa Blanca.
The swell, a decisive factor
The Executive reports that the works contracted in Órzola had planned a construction system based on the good weather windows that reflected the statistical records of swell. However, the constant presence of swell has forced a change in the execution system of the work, which is finally planned through a land access that will later be removed.
Playa Blanca, on the waiting list
The project for the expansion of the southern port has already been drafted, according to the Government, responding in its design to the requests of the Island Council and the Yaiza City Council. The tender for works will be announced shortly, the project will be processed in the COTMAC and the Ministry of the Environment and a Special Territorial Plan for the port itself will also be processed, to comply with the Land Planning Law and the Revised Text of the Laws on Land Planning and Natural Spaces of the Canary Islands. Therefore, the works would begin in two years and the execution of the same would take 20 to 24 months. Until the last two procedures are completed, it will not be possible to grant the concession, in such a way that, although as a result of the contest, the winner obtains the right to have the concession processed in your favor, the start of construction will delay the aforementioned time.
