The Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium, made up of the Cabildo, the seven Town Councils and the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands, has approved, with the vote in favor of all the members that make up the Entity's Plenary, "the budget for the year 2022, which amounts to the amount of 6,165,283 euros".

According to the island Corporation, the income, mainly from contributions made by the consortium entities, is distributed in: 3,259,990.50 euros by the Cabildo of Lanzarote; 2,048,289.56 euros the Municipalities and 378,345 euros the Autonomous Community, not suffering variation with respect to the contributions made in the previous year.

“We approved some accounts with a fundamental objective, to expand the number of firefighters and continue working for an island that is safer every day," says the president of the Consortium and councilor, Marcos Bergaz, who adds that "we aspire to the fire brigade to reach half a hundred troops, which will allow us to increase our response capacity to any incident”.

In addition, Bergaz points out that “all the members of the Entity want to highlight the enormous effort that the Security and Emergency personnel make on the island, even more so, in times as complex as those we are experiencing as a result of COVID-19”.

From the Cabildo of Lanzarote they point out that the initial approval of the accounts has taken place in the plenary session held this Wednesday, and guarantees "to continue with the functions entrusted to the Entity". They detail that among them is "the fire service, the preparation of Security Plans or interadministrative assistance and cooperation to deal with the multiple incidents resulting from COVID-19".

Regarding expenses, the Corporation points out that the 3,229,733.07 euros of the chapter corresponding to personnel stand out, together with the 2,258,240.17 euros for operating expenses, or the 623,309.76 euros for investments that will be increased "by more than one million euros for various subsidies granted by the Cabildo of Lanzarote with a final nature".
