Titerroy residents complain about abandoned cars that populate their streets

Camera in hand, the members of the Titerroy neighborhood association walk the streets of the neighborhood to collect graphic evidence of the numerous abandoned cars that, according to the complaint, occupy the roads.

The proliferation of abandoned cars in Arrecife is a problem that has been reported repeatedly and despite the fact that last October a traffic regulation came into force in the capital by which any vehicle can be removed if it remains on the street for a month, even if the owner has not been located, these cars continue to be part of the city's landscape.

María Isabel Déniz assures that they have already removed 400 abandoned cars from the streets and despite the fact that it is a prohibited practice, "people continue to leave their vehicles." She recognizes that the removal of these cars is slow because a company has to certify that the car is decontaminated, "without traces of liquids such as fuel or oil," the mayor points out.
