The residents of the areas near the Arrecife Ring Road construction are tired of having to endure the "amount of dirt" that enters their homes. La Voz has received several calls from residents, who claim that "the elderly and children are starting to have respiratory problems."
This mainly affects the neighborhood of Las Acacias (Los Pitufos), Tinasoria, Los Geranios, Maneje, Titerroy, Altavista and Morro de Angelito. "You can't even be here. It's horrifying. I don't know how much longer we're going to have to put up with this," says a resident of Titerroy. He assures that he has contacted the Cabildo on several occasions, but says that from the first institution "they wash their hands, since the work is from the Government of the Canary Islands."
The problem is that in the transfer of land they are doing, due to the works of the Ring Road, a lot of sand ends up in the houses of the neighbors. "I don't understand why they don't put a little water on the ground so it doesn't get into our houses," says this neighbor.
Every day this same situation is repeated. "The truck comes, unloads and the air flies", says this man, who lives near Tirama street, in Titerroy. "In the end, the neighbors are really going to get sick and we'll see what we do. It seems that they don't care about the people who live here," he says.
Another neighbor also says that it is "a bore to have to clean the patio three times a day." "There is a lot of dust, you sweep now and after a while, the same thing again. There are mountains of dirt, especially in Los Pitufos, who eat all the dirt. It's like the western movies, when you saw the dust and dirt flying everywhere," says another neighbor, who demands that the operators "pour even a drop of water."
