The Association of Owners of Marina Puerto Calero Yaiza has informed all owners and users of the marina that the exceptional extension of the administrative concession that regulates the management and operation of this space is currently on public display, since June 12, 2025, and that allegations may be submitted until July 12.
Interested parties have had one month to submit allegations, so the Association of Owners recommends carrying out this procedure before July 12, in order to ensure that observations or claims are taken into account by the competent administration.
The original concession, granted by the Council of Ministers in July 1985, was awarded for a period of 40 years and expires next September 2025. This concession allowed the creation and consolidation of the first marina in Lanzarote and, according to the Association of Owners, has been key in the urban and tourist development of the southern area of the municipality of Yaiza.
The requested extension is of an exceptional nature and proposes an extension for 35 additional years. This type of extension can only be granted when there are reasons of general interest, as established by current legislation. In this sense, they have argued that the marina of Puerto Calero is "an asset of public domain and of general interest, whose exploitation must guarantee the balance between economic development, sustainability and the rights of all users".
Thus, they have indicated that "any measure adopted in this process cannot exclusively benefit one party, to the detriment of other users or owners, who are also an active part of the port and its development over the last decades".
In this sense, it has pointed out that, "the owners of berths, apartments and premises have reasons for concern, given that the new terms of the concession could affect conditions, rates or use of facilities." The association has stressed that "it is important that they formally record the rights they may hold over their property or use titles and that they submit their allegations before the deadline. Only in this way can they adequately protect themselves against eventual changes or damages".
The Association has encouraged all owners to "submit their allegations individually or, preferably, jointly through the association, in order to safeguard collective interests and ensure maximum transparency and participation in this administrative process".
For more information, clarifications or assistance in drafting allegations, they have proposed contacting the association through the email: propietariospuertocalero@gmail.com. Finally, they have invited those who are not yet part of the Association to join and actively participate in the defense of the rights of all owners.
