The mayor of Tinajo, Jesús Machín, stated in statements made on Radio Lanzarote that the leaflet issued by the Socialist Party (PSOE) during the festivities "deceives citizens." According to Jesús Machín, the paper contains some information that distorts the reality of what is done in the municipality. In this regard, one of the aspects that most bothered the mayor was the one related to the islet of La Santa. Regarding the dredging project of the slipway, the leaflet assures that only the mayor needs to present the project. "Why lie to the people? I don't think it's Manuela Armas who is lying, and if it is, why?" Jesús Machín asked.

To demonstrate that the problems are not caused by mismanagement, the mayor explained that during the La Santa festivities he spoke with a young lady "whose name I don't remember" who has problems with the Coastal Directorate "because she has a file about her house." Apparently, the girl told Jesús Machín that the head of the agency told her that only the mayor's signature was missing for her to have her house legally. Faced with the protest, Jesús Machín proposed to the young woman to accompany him to the delegation of the Coastal Directorate "so that she could witness what they told me." In this way, they arranged the appointment and there they presented the problem to Carlos Cárdenez "who told us that I didn't have to present anything," Jesús Machín explained. For the mayor, the problem is that the discussion should focus on whether La Santa can be urbanized or not, this being a matter that should be dealt with by the Ministry of Territorial Policy.

Another aspect that appears in the leaflet that has bothered the mayor of Tinajo is the one related to money for the wrestling club. As Jesús Machín explained on Radio Lanzarote, a large company in the municipality offered money for the team. "The president's surprise was when he arrived at the company and they told him that two people from the government team had told him that no money was given to wrestling," the mayor explained. Faced with this information, Jesús Machín challenged the members of the company to say who the people from the government team are who have made that statement "because if they affirm that a person from the government group has said that, I will fire him," concluded the mayor of Tinajo. Finally, the socialists' leaflet talks about the Tinajo roundabout "and they say it is not finished when it even has grass," explained the mayor, who described the document as "cheap demagoguery."
