The PSOE of Tinajo denounces that the car rented by Machín costs the municipality “6,825 euros in a year and a half”

The socialist councilor, Begoña Hernández, also considers "unjustifiable" the amount charged by the mayor for mileage, which amounts to 865 euros

The spokesperson for the socialist group in the Tinajo City Council, Begoña Hernández, has denounced that in just eighteen months the mayor, Jesús Machín, has spent "6,825 euros on renting a Mercedes for the mayor's office use."

Hernández has clarified that this figure represents around "twenty-five percent of what the City Council has spent on vehicle rentals in that year and a half, which amounts to just over 26 thousand euros."

In addition to the large expense of renting a high-end vehicle for the exclusive service of the mayor, Hernández considered "unjustifiable" the amount charged by Jesús Machín for mileage, which amounts to 865 euros.

"To charge 865 euros in just three months, Jesús Machín would have to travel 50.5 kilometers a day, including weekends and holidays, since he charges 0.19 euros per kilometer, so it is assumed that he has made trips for a total of 4,552 kilometers," says the PSOE spokesperson.

For the socialist spokesperson, it is "impossible" to accept as true "that the mayor travels an average of 50 kilometers a day on errands related to his position."

"Round trip to Arrecife is 40 kilometers a day. From the City Council to La Santa there are 7.5 kilometers; between the Plaza de San Roque and Mancha Blanca there are less than three kilometers, and to La Vegueta only 4.3. It is impossible to justify that Machín travels more than 50 kilometers every day in trips related to his position," Hernández denounced.

In the opinion of Begoña Hernández, beyond the expense that Machín generates to the City Council between the rental of the Mercedes and the mileage, the most important thing is "the lightness with which he charges the municipal accounts for expenses that are clearly excessive and unjustifiable."
