The PSOE of San Bartolomé accuses Clavijo of "selecting municipalities by party affiliation" and demands he visit Playa Honda

The group denounces the setback of the health center project and reproaches the president for ignoring the town's health needs

The PSOE of San Bartolomé invites the President of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, to visit Playa Honda to hear the opinions of the town's residents on the new health center project, a project that, we recall, the CC-PP government now intends to reduce to a mere remodeling of the current building.

“From the PSOE, we support any health improvement that is beneficial to the citizens of Lanzarote, but, likewise, we strongly reject any discrimination based on political affiliation.”

The Socialist Group therefore advocates for the implementation of the health centers in Argana, Costa Teguise, Tinajo, and any other health needs in Lanzarote. “We, unlike the president, also remember the expansion of Playa Blanca and the 24-hour emergency services in Mala, which, coincidentally, are located in municipalities not governed by CC.”

In this regard, the mayor of San Bartolomé, Isidro Pérez, considers it logical for the president to meet with the citizens of any neighborhood in the Canary Islands – as he has done with those in Argana, Arrecife – to understand their demands and try to offer solutions to their problems, “but it is unacceptable that he selects the municipalities he listens to based on the party governing them.”

Similarly, he considers it deplorable that, in response to the concern expressed by some of those present at that meeting about the situation of the new Playa Honda health center, the CC senator, Pedro San Ginés, responded by trying to divert attention to the San Bartolomé health center, when both projects have absolutely nothing to do with each other.

Pérez regrets that the president did not take advantage of his visit to Lanzarote this Tuesday to also explain to the residents of Playa Honda the reasons why his government now argues, according to what was conveyed by the president of the Cabildo, Oswaldo Betancort, that the town does not deserve a health center adequate to the demand and needs of the area.

“In statements to the Lanzarote media, Fernando Clavijo has considered it ‘fundamental’ to unblock the Argana health center project, which is why we from San Bartolomé ask him what the objective criteria of his government are for concluding that Playa Honda should not have a health center with response capacity.”
