The PSOE of Lanzarote has requested the Management of Health Services to review and modify the bases of the call published on August 20 for the provision of a nursing position in the school environment in the municipality of Tinajo.
The socialists consider it "unacceptable" that the call establishes as the only requirement the possession of a Master's Degree in School Health, excluding the official Nursing specialties recognized by the Ministry of Health, such as Pediatric Nursing and Family and Community Nursing, directly linked to health care in the school environment.
The island secretary of health of the PSOE of Lanzarote, Sabina Vizcaíno Sicilia, warned that this exclusion "gives the feeling that a tailor-made suit has been made, prioritizing a very specific requirement instead of recognizing the official training of highly qualified professionals who have passed a rigorous process of health specialization."
In this sense, she insisted that "specialized health training cannot be disregarded while we talk about guaranteeing the quality of care in schools. The call must be modified to be fair, transparent and adjusted to legality."
Likewise, Vizcaíno stressed that the situation may violate basic principles of equality, merit and capacity in access to public employment, in addition to implying an inefficient use of human resources by leaving out professionals with advanced skills in school care, health promotion, management of childhood chronicity or emergency care. "We demand that the official Nursing specialties be included as a requirement or preferred merit and that the interview be withdrawn, because as the call is written, it generates more doubts than certainties about equal opportunities in accessing the position," she said.
The PSOE also criticizes the haste with which the process has been convened, in the middle of August and with only five business days for the presentation of candidacies, hindering participation and reducing transparency.
With this claim, the socialists emphasize that the quality of the School Nursing Program in Tinajo can only be ensured if there are professionals with the highest qualification and experience, guaranteeing equal opportunities and avoiding calls that generate doubts about their transparency and legality.
