The PSOE has denounced this Monday the "apathy" of Oswaldo Betancort with the water supply on the island. “Water is not reaching the citizens of Lanzarote and the government says it can do nothing”, revealed the councilor and spokesperson for the Socialist Group, Ariagona González.
"What is being done to avoid water cuts on the island?”, González asked. This is how the councilor and spokesperson for the Socialist Group, Ariagona González, denounced a situation that "is increasingly denounced and suffered by the citizens of Lanzarote: the interruption of the water supply in different areas of the island", during the last plenary session of the Cabildo de Lanzarote.
“During the last six months, water supply cuts in Lanzarote have been increasing, to the point of being common in certain areas of the island. The latest statements by the Minister of Water are not encouraging, as they report that supply problems will continue”, González recalled.
The socialist councilor has expressed her "deep concern and rejection" about a problem that “affects the daily lives of citizens but also seriously harms small businesses and especially sectors such as agriculture”. “The apathy and passivity of Oswaldo Betancort and his government group with the loss of quality of an essential service that is increasingly weakened in Lanzarote is inadmissible. Canal Gestión's communications reporting service interruptions are practically daily and the explanation given by the councilor in the media is that he can do nothing about it”, he added.
“The privatization of the service has the Coalición Canaria seal and this government group chaired by Oswaldo Betancort has already demonstrated that it works more for the interests of Canal Gestión than to defend the interests of the citizens of Lanzarote and La Graciosa”, González pointed out, referring to the government group's intention to pay Canal Gestión "58.4 million euros" as a concept of works, which must "be carried out by the concessionaire of the integral water cycle and which, in addition, will only benefit the company itself".
"Canal is profitable for CC"
“So far, Oswaldo Betancort's only efforts have been aimed at satisfying the needs of the company that manages water in Lanzarote, it is time for him to work to solve the problems of the people and demand solutions from Canal Gestión, which in just ten months has already made it profitable to have a President of Coalición Canaria again”.
