The PSOE has denounced the "outrageous squandering of public money" that the Arrecife City Council is carrying out since the Popular Party and the nationalists of Coalición came to power in the summer of 2023. The expenses on festivities "break records every month, reaching this August the chilling figure of more than 23 million euros spent by a humble municipality like Arrecife."
Specifically, the amount accounted for by the PSOE is 22,744,200 euros, to which must be added the Summer Fest of 2023 and the Eighties Party of 2024, an accounting that, according to the socialists, "they continue to hide and that will add up to more than 300,000 euros."
### ### Nationalists and Conservatives with the Seville Hair Comb
"The idea of inventing festivities, or bringing celebrations that have little to do with our city, is especially significant, such as the Feria de Abril, which cost 550,000 euros in 2024 and 548,000 euros in 2025. In those festivities that promote Andalusia, we have seen many politicians with the 'peineta' comb, including nationalists," they point out.
"Or the party to mark World Beach Day, which is celebrated in the capital, which far from raising awareness about the environment and cleanliness, turns into a kind of mixed drinks on the sand and early morning concerts," they continue.
In this regard, the PSOE assures that "there are many residents who are tired of endless nights, of decibels that make the windows of houses tremble, etc. But the mayor and his government team do not cease in their efforts to maintain the revelry week after week."
A city "without infrastructure or services"
The city of Arrecife, they say, "needs countless infrastructures, such as a simple municipal funeral home, more sports fields, schools, or cleaning and security, etc. In addition to basic services such as rat extermination, cleaning, or aid to sports clubs that are systematically ignored."
Cristiana Duque comments that "the subculture of waste and revelry cannot be the foundation of a city, because when they bankrupt the City Council, nothing will have been done for the future of the citizens, who cannot live on rum and coke."
