The PSOE of Arrecife criticizes that "PP and CC have cut the budget of Social Welfare by nearly half a million euros"

Alfredo Mendoza also denounces that "the Festivals item increases by around 4 million euros without blushing." "We are facing a budget that forgets the real and structural problems of the capital," he says.

The Socialist Group in the Arrecife City Council has denounced that the recently approved Budgets for the 2024 financial year of the Arrecife City Council "respond to the propaganda and advertising policy of the Popular Party and the Canary Coalition, paid for with the money of the people of Arrecife".

The councilor and spokesperson for the Socialist Group, Alfredo Mendoza, has lamented that "the government group turns its back on basic issues for the city that contribute to improving the quality of life of citizens."

"We are facing a Budget that forgets the real problems and structural issues of the capital. They have forgotten fundamental issues such as the stormwater network and have cut the budget for Social Welfare by around half a million euros, while increasing the Festivals item by around 4 million euros without blushing," says Mendoza.

Absence of city project

Mendoza emphasized that "the Arrecife government group has demonstrated a total absence of a city project." "The investment plan with its own funds does not reach 300,000 euros, it is absolutely shameful for the third capital of the Canary Islands. They have forgotten to reflect the 600,000 euro item they promised for the Argana Sports Palace, they have ignored the historical debt with the residents of the Titerroy homes and have ignored the paralysis of the commercial area," he added.

Ginory: the debt with the PP seal

On the other hand, Mendoza pointed out that "the greatest shame reflected in the budget document is the payment of the financial debt credit of 2.7 million euros that the city council acquired to pay the compensation for the Ginory land, a disastrous management that already amounts to 40 million euros paid by the citizens of Arrecife and that bears the direct seal of the Popular Party."

22 amendments "steamrolled"

Likewise, the Socialist Group has lamented "the lack of talent and dialogue" demonstrated in the Budget debate plenary session by the Popular Party and the Canary Coalition, after they "refused to debate the 22 amendments" presented by the PSOE "in a constructive tone and with the aim of contributing improvements to the document." "Without any debate, Yonathan De León 'steamrolled' important proposals in social, educational, sports and economic matters, refusing to delve into them," concludes Mendoza.
