The PSOE manages to "postpone" the modification of the Regulations of Honors and Distinctions

An attempt, according to the socialist councilor Alberto Aguiar, intended to "change the voting method for the Favorite and Adoptive Sons of Lanzarote so that they are approved by a simple majority"

The Socialist Group of the Cabildo of Lanzarote has denounced the "attempt by Oswaldo Betancort to modify the Regulations of Honors and Distinctions “with nocturnality and treachery and without following the procedure established by law”. The socialist councilor and former head of the Culture area, Alberto Aguiar, has asked the government group to leave the modification on the table, “which must have a rigorous procedure that has been dispensed with and with a consensus of the entire island Corporation that has always been pursued in these processes.”

Aguiar pointed out that "the government group intended to carry out a modification of the regulations that changed the voting method for the Favorite and Adoptive Sons of Lanzarote so that they are no longer elected by a reinforced majority (3/5) and are approved by a simple majority."

Aguiar has denounced that the file, which finally "has been left on the table at the request of the PSOE, lacked the requirements contemplated in the Law of Common Administrative Procedure" and “a proposal was brought to the plenary session without a needs report from the area, without a report from the Secretariat, from the Legal Advice, from the equality area, etc. That is, an absolute absurdity from the point of view of rigor but also from the desire to govern seeking consensus.”

“It is probably the first time that a matter that should be carried out with a dialoguing spirit and aspiring to find unanimity has been treated in this way, being a tool that aims to recognize and reward special merits, outstanding benefits or extraordinary services and actions in favor of the island and must, therefore, have the maximum representation of the citizens of Lanzarote”, concludes Aguiar.
