The PSOE denounces that Yonathan de León ignored the alert from the Government of the Canary Islands for rains "putting the city at risk." "The mayor of Arrecife did not have time to prepare the city for an alert for heavy rains issued by the Government of the Canary Islands, days before it rained," they add from the PSOE of Arrecife.
From the formation they criticize that "Yonathan de León was preparing the photo book for the weekend, and he forgot to clean drains, prepare sewers, distribute bags, etcetera." In addition, they point out that "he should have the local police and emergencies on alert so that as soon as it was needed, traffic could be controlled, closing the streets, which were black spots immediately. Instead, he decided to do nothing."
The socialists of Arrecife criticize that "last Friday we saw flooded shops, houses flooded with water, streets that looked like rivers, with traffic collapse, problems in the exits and entrances of the city, houses that swallowed sewage, rats, etcetera. In all this time there were no sandbags, local police directing traffic, or closure of the black spots... among other essential measures."
Finally, from the PSOE they state that "the fall of the rains has exposed the seams of an incompetent government with more desire for photos and salary than to work for the city." The PSOE councilor in Arrecife points out that "this time, with the PP and Coalición in the Government of the Canary Islands, and in the Cabildo of Lanzarote, they have not been able to blame the autonomous or island executive as is customary in these parties allergic to work and responsibility, since they themselves are the ones who do not govern. From the PSOE we will ask that responsibilities be purged in the face of so much incompetence."
