The Socialist Group of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, through its councilor Benjamín Perdomo, has expressed its concern this Monday in a press release "regarding the waste of public resources" after learning that the Centers for Art, Culture and Tourism (CACT) have allocated 20,000 euros to the purchase of whiskey.
“We consider it unacceptable for expenses of such magnitude to be made on high-end beverages, without clear justification,” Perdomo pointed out.
The Socialist Group asked a question in the last plenary session for the government group to clarify "urgently" the cost, brand and number of units acquired of alcoholic beverages exceeding 300 euros, as well as the cost and insurance policy that covers said bottles, after waiting more than four months after several questions were asked in writing.
“There is no justification or reason for the CACT to be concerned with acquiring this type of product. The quality of the restoration can be maintained at a high and exquisite level without the need to fall into excesses that waste public money,” added the socialist councilor.
The socialist councilor pointed out that the government group's refusal to provide information in this regard “is motivated precisely by intending to delay this scandal as much as possible.”
“Citizens deserve transparent and responsible public management, and we are not going to tolerate opacity or waste in the administration of public resources,” he concluded.
