The PSOE of Arrecife has denounced that the Popular Party and Canary Coalition "reject" that the municipality has a Family Respite Center that provides care and support to the elderly of the municipality. The socialists regret that the government group of the City Council of Arrecife has rejected the motion of the Socialist Group that proposed the creation of this resource "to provide support to numerous families in the municipality".

The councilman and spokesman of the Socialist Group in the City Council of Arrecife, Alfredo Mendoza, has accused Yonathan De León of "turning his back on the citizens of Arrecife". "The families of this municipality need social protection measures that improve their quality of life and alleviate the responsibility of caring for a loved one who needs constant attention and specific resources, in many cases. It is incomprehensible that this measure is rejected when the need is more than obvious and the dependent population of Arrecife is increasingly large."

"The right has once again demonstrated what the order of priorities is on its government agenda. The mayor of Arrecife is more focused on the municipality being known for pomp and festivities but he forgets that there are essential things that are not being covered. It is unworthy to look the other way," he added.

In his speech, Mendoza stressed that "it is a priority to provide quality care to our elders, as well as a temporary break for those who provide the main care, especially when, for various reasons, "they cannot take care of the attention". It is essential for their health that they are provided with rest periods," he says.

"This family respite center is also conceived as a fundamental response for our elders who face reduced mobility, cognitive impairment and/or functional limitations. It is vital to ensure a safe environment adapted to people with these specific needs," Mendoza concluded.
