The PSOE demands that Teguise "get its act together sooner" with the execution of rulings

"We have to prevent the Justice from warning the mayor with possible fines of 1,000 euros to be paid with his personal assets so that a 2018 ruling is executed," says Marcos Bergaz.

The PSOE in Teguise, through its spokesperson Marcos Bergaz, has demanded that the government group led by Oswaldo Betancort "get their act together sooner" next time, when it comes to complying with the rulings that side with citizens against the administration, as he claims has happened with three rulings that are being taken to the plenary session this Thursday, some of them issued in 2018.

The socialist group demands "greater speed" to "prevent the Justice from having to warn the mayor with possible fines of 1,000 euros to be paid from his personal assets so that the Council executes the rulings"

"Otherwise, it may seem that this government only reacts when the mayor has to be saved from the possible imposition of fines for not attending to judges and courts, in episodes that should be avoided for the peace of mind of all and the good image of the Corporation," adds Marcos Bergaz.

Three requirements from the Court to the City Council

In the case of the 2018 ruling, the PSOE states that "the Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands has been forced to require not once, not twice, but on three occasions for the City Council to proceed to execute a judicial resolution that is finally being taken to the plenary, addressing the third of them to the mayor himself".

For the socialist group "it is important not to give the impression that the government only gets its act together at this point, acting more quickly, even more so when it is not the only ruling pending execution and citizens are waiting".

The leader of the socialists of Teguise, Marcos Bergaz, states "the urgency of taking these and other rulings to the plenary, even when - as in this occasion - they have not gone through an informative commission to explain to all the groups the details of each of the files".

The PSOE affirms that, according to the file in its possession in relation to a ruling of the Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands dated May 4, 2018, the first requirement to the City Council was made in March of the following year. In it, they indicate that the Council was asked to report on the actions taken in compliance with the judicial ruling.

This, add the socialists, was "reiterated by means of an official letter that was received by the City Council on October 23, 2019", in which "it also requires that the authority or official responsible for processing the file be identified".

According to the PSOE, on July 1, 2020, a "new requirement was received, addressed to the mayor, in order to comply with the ruling, warning him that otherwise, after a period of one month, coercive fines in the amount of 1,000 euros per month will be imposed on his personal assets".
