The Socialist Party (PSOE) has reported in a press release that it will demand in the plenary session this Monday an Integral Plan to beautify the entrances to Costa Teguise and optimize its road safety. Its deputy spokesperson, Jenifer Galán, announces that they will present an initiative in this line to the next plenary session: “It is time for the accesses that receive the 9,000 residents and thousands of travelers who choose Costa Teguise as a holiday destination to shine as they deserve.”

For the socialist team of Teguise, "it is unacceptable that the largest population center of the municipality maintains an appearance that leaves much to be desired." “We sadly observe a picture - says the spokesperson - that is not up to the standard of this tourist and residential center: poor maintenance, fences belonging to urban skeletons in a deplorable state, remains of what were garden areas, a median deteriorated in many sections, sports facilities such as the old tennis courts in a ruinous situation...”.

To the sad aesthetics, “the product of years of abandonment and neglect”, the councilor stressed, “we must add the numerous incidents such as run-overs and collisions on its main roads.” In this sense, the socialists have remarked that the Integral Beautification Plan should be used to implement "as many corrective measures as necessary with a view to increasing the safety of pedestrians and vehicles."

Galán has pointed to the main gateway to Costa Teguise, which is the one that comes from Arrecife, flowing into Avenida de Las Palmeras, “but attention must also be paid to the Los Arcos road and Avenida del Golf, the latter especially diminished in its aesthetic and conservation state due to the floods of last April 12.”

Taking care of every detail

According to the PSOE of Teguise, the daily management of routines has prevented "seeing the forest, forgetting the characteristics of the start-up of Costa Teguise more than half a century ago that pursued excellence.”

“The 9,000 residents and the thousands of travelers" - Galán remarked - "do not deserve to witness on the roads such as the access from Arrecife to Costa Teguise or Avenida del Golf some neglected margins, in need of an urgent renovation, and the gardening and lighting elements demanding a makeover.”

Regarding the Los Arcos road that connects the Costa Teguise community with the northeast Lanzarote road, the socialists have considered that it requires “an action aimed at improving its qualification given the healthy use of it by numerous cyclists.”

In its proactive line, the PSOE as the majority party, has indicated that it hopes that the municipal government will take the instance positively and approve in plenary the elaboration and execution of this integral plan for the beautification of the accesses to Costa Teguise that in turn would improve the road safety of the residential-tourist area.

To finish, Galán has invited citizens to follow the plenary session that will take place this Monday, June 16, starting at 9 a.m. in the Spínola Palace of La Villa or through the web.
