The general secretary of the PSOE of Lanzarote and former president of the Cabildo, María Dolores Corujo, and the spokesperson for the Socialist Group in the Parliament of the Canary Islands and former Minister of Public Works, Housing and Transport, Sebastián Franquis, visited the public housing development in Maneje last Wednesday, which was designed and launched during the last legislative term.
Corujo recalled that, after 26 years with Coalición Canaria without building public housing on the island, it was a socialist government, with Ángel Víctor Torres at the helm, Franquis as minister, and Corujo as president of the Cabildo, who reactivated housing policy and got this development underway. "These homes will be a home for families from Lanzarote. In the previous term, we defined a social scale, not a lottery, so that the allocation prioritizes economic vulnerability and real residential need," she stated.Corujo added: "We trust that the Government of the Canary Islands, presided over by Fernando Clavijo, and the Cabildo of Lanzarote, presided over by Oswaldo Betancort, will maintain and apply that scale with full publicity and control, in an objective, verifiable, and accessible manner for the citizens."Franquis stressed that the promotion "is the result of planning, financing, and serious technical work, not improvisation," and defended that the objective is to expand public housing and provide a response to working families
