The president of the Cabildo, Pedro San Ginés, announced at a press conference this Thursday the new areas that CC and PSOE will share, after reaching a government agreement. In principle, the socialists will keep the departments that the PP held until this Wednesday, with the exception of the "macro councilorship" of Tourism and the area of Economic Promotion, which this time will be directed by the nationalists.
In addition, the PSOE will assume the departments of Public Works and Technical Office, which until now were in the hands of Sergio Machín. These areas, together with Roads and Works and the Mobile Park will be assumed by José Antonio Gutiérrez, who will also be the third vice president of the Corporation.
For his part, Joaquín Caraballo, in addition to the Vice Presidency, will manage the departments of Transport, Data Center, Employment and European Affairs. The areas of Industry, Consumption and Energy also fall to Caraballo, although only provisionally, following the resignation of the socialist José Luis Aparicio.
The rest of the Councilorships that the PSOE will lead are Culture and Education, two areas that were managed by the PP until the rupture of the pact. Emma Cabrera will be in charge of these two departments.
The Canarian Coalition, for its part, has this time managed to hold the "macro councilorship" of Tourism, a claim that almost ruined the signing of the pact between CC and PP after the May elections. In addition, the nationalists will also keep the area of Economic Promotion, which was also in the hands of the popular until the rupture of the pact.
However, the president of the Cabildo, Pedro San Ginés, has not confirmed who will occupy these areas, referring the media to a press conference in which "a slight remodeling" of the government will be transferred and that, according to San Ginés, will possibly take place next Monday. Of course, San Ginés has insisted that they will continue "advancing in the professionalization" in the management of public companies and Tourist Centers, appointing "a professional" as CEO of them, although he did not want to reveal his name at the moment.
"A permanent dialogue"
The government program, according to what has been transferred from both parties, will be announced in the coming weeks since, given "the speed" with which this new governance agreement has been developed, according to Joaquín Caraballo, there has not been time for its gestation.
Of course, Caraballo has stated that the pact will be based on "permanent dialogue" and on "having mutual knowledge of what is being done" and that all decisions will be agreed upon, especially "those relating to Territorial Policy, Environment and Tourism". "We do not intend to work in a government of watertight compartments and we intend to be loyal," added the socialist, who pointed out that fundamentally "the lines of government will be based on the lines that define the pact for the Canary Islands."
Asked about the illegal hotels, Caraballo stressed the importance of this issue and pointed out that "a solution will be given to the agreed territorial policy and not only at the Lanzarote level, but also at the regional level, from the point of view that the solution to many of these problems passes through the autonomous Government". San Ginés has pointed out, in this aspect, that the solution will come "in the technical and legal plane, which is where it should always be and should never leave".
