The PSOE of Arrecife demands that the mayoress Astrid Pérez "remove the Christmas lights from the city's public roads, since more than three weeks have passed since the Christmas festivities ended and the structures and decorative elements placed on lampposts, squares, parks, streets and sidewalks have not yet been dismantled.”

“We understand that the decorative elements with Christmas motifs cannot be removed from one moment to the next, since the logistics of the process are complex due to the volume of material used, but at this rate the carnivals will begin without the Christmas decoration having been dismantled”, says the municipal spokesperson for the Socialist group, Alfredo Mendoza.

“Same dedication to turning off the Christmas lights”

Alfredo Mendoza, attributes the delay in the removal of Christmas lighting in Arrecife to “a mayoress tired of the city who does not feel the problems and needs of the residents”. The socialist spokesperson maintains: “We do not know where Astrid Pérez and the Popular Party have their heads, but it is clear that it is not in Arrecife and its inhabitants”.

"Friday, January 6 was the day chosen by the majority of Spanish cities to turn off the Christmas lights, since the Epiphany was the last date of the Christmas season. Some cities left the lights on that weekend and in the immediately following days they began to dismantle the lighting", says Mendoza.

Finally, the socialist spokesperson asks Astrid Pérez, the Popular Party and the Canarian Coalition to put "the same dedication into turning off the Christmas lights as they did in December when they announced the great Christmas lighting with pomp and circumstance”.
