The PSOE addresses the controversy of the Cueva de los Verdes: "We will not allow history to be rewritten"

The Socialist Group in the Cabildo of Lanzarote will raise "a key question" in the next plenary session regarding the payments made by the Cabildo to the City Council

Benjamín Perdomo, Councilor of the PSOE of the Cabildo of Lanzarote

The Socialist Group in the Cabildo of Lanzarote has announced that it will raise "a key question" in the next plenary session regarding the payments made by the Cabildo to the City Council of Haría in relation to the Cueva de los Verdes Agreement. This action comes after the statements issued by Coalición Canaria, which celebrated the recent ruling confirming the validity of the agreement and accused the PSOE of manipulating this issue politically

Coalición Canaria stated that during the socialist stage of the Haría City Council, a claim of illegality was filed against the agreement, while assuring that the northern municipality "did not receive any payment from the Cabildo during the presidency of María Dolores Corujo." Faced with these accusations, the Socialist Group considers it "essential to clarify the data and guarantee transparency around this issue."

The councilor of the Socialist Group, Benjamín Perdomo, has stated that “it is essential to offer clear answers to the citizens to deny the manipulations and the partial versions that seek to confuse public opinion. This type of statement by Coalición Canaria is not only false, but represents an attempt to divert attention from their responsibility in the management of the Cabildo.”

In that sense, Perdomo will demand that it be detailed how many payments, of what amount and on what dates have been made by the Cabildo to the City Council of Haría based on the Cueva de los Verdes Agreement, in addition to specifying when the claim of illegality was filed against the agreement by the City Council. “The payments and actions related to the agreement must be perfectly documented and be public knowledge. We are not going to allow attempts to rewrite history based on press releases loaded with falsehoods,” he added.
